I finally bought some fruit to fill the cozies I made for my Mum for her birthday, and aren't they lovely?
The other good news is that the vegan lunch box gave me permission to post my crochet patterns which I adapted from her knitting patterns. If you'd like to find her knitting patterns, click the links for her apple cozies (there's three sizes!), banana cozy, and orange cozy.

Awesome! I've had my eye on the knitting patterns for awhile, but can't knit. Now, to just get my husband to use these for his lunch...

Kenmore has this link posted on their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/kenmore) and is using the apple cozy in their ads targeting users with knitting-related content on their pages. So it showed up on my page! And as the editor of both a crochet and a knitting magazine, i hope to give you a little link love too! Very cute ...
ReplyDeleteI found you through facebook, too, the Kenmore page. These are so cute, and useful, too. I carry apples with me sometimes when we're in the car, and I don't like them getting all banged up. These would make charming gifts for school kids, too.

How original! Saw them on Kenmore also! Actually, on a small icon on the side of my facebook! Plan on making a few and showing them at my knitting guild. Will give credits to you, of course!

ReplyDeleteI was minding my own business, like you do, when all of the sudden, there was an apple all buttoned up in a red cozy on the Right of my screen in Facebook! As I was doing something, I clicked on another part of the screen and the ad changed! Dang it! Come back apple! I just must know why it was buttoned up in a cozy at all! Who could have thought of such a thing? I knit for all sorts of silly things, knitted cotton coozy for my water bottle, knitted tooth fairy pockets for my pre-k class, knitted neck ties for my cats, though they hate wearing them in public! even a knitted CD cover, just to see it I could! But, who, who, could have thought of such a knitted or crocheted item as an apple cozy? I must find that apple again! So, I resumed my activity on the page, with little interest to my task and full focus on the ads. There it is! The apple is back! So, I clicked to see where it would take me. Kenmore studios. Don't quite know what that is yet, I'll check it out more later. I searched and searched on their page and couldn't find the cozy red apple! Alas, what shall I do? My life is incomplete without an apple cozy! I remembered the phrase, "knitting that goes in your lunchbox", I Googled it! The very 1st result seemed intriguing, but not sure. Right click just in case. There it was! A knitted, er, well crocheted apple cozy as being kept company by a nice cozy banana! Success! Now my life is complete! Now just to decide whether to knit one or crochet 1st.... decisions, decisions!

ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for your pattern. A friend had an apple cosy and I just found you thru an internet search. I'm new to crochet and was just wondering what the'chain,3' at the top of your pattern meant.

ReplyDeleteThe 'chain 3' at the top of the pattern means to create 3 chain stiches as the basis for the pattern. You then need to join back into the first chain stitch with a slip stich (insert hook into chain stitch, yarn over, then pull through both loops on hook). This will make a tiny ring of chain stitches into which the first round will be made.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I'll try to take some photos of the process for you!
